BAE Systems Detica is experienced in defining programs for the protection of private healthcare information.

The information systems of health sector organizations have driven the need to share confidential information between them.  Several major projects have taken security into account and a strong regulatory environment encourages organizations to share their information securely.

The day-to-day protection of information systems in the e-health ecosystem is under the responsibility of each organisation processing health information. National health departments and standards bodies define policies and standards to enable secure sharing of health information and protection from unauthorized disclosure. A diverse range of issues are yet to be resolved, from the interoperability and security of information systems, to the organization of regional project management, and the involvement of all the stakeholders concerned.

Establishing an effective security model for the public health sector is very difficult due to the heterogeneous nature of the environment and the variance of participants in the environment, from local doctors’ clinics, to pharmaceutical companies, to hospitals, and to the health insurance industry.

BAE Systems Detica – as Stratsec – has provided a range of information security services to key organisations in Australia’s e-health ecosystem.  This has included security architecture, assessment of security governance approaches, and security testing.

Detica – as Stratsec – has worked on eHealth projects for SA Health, and has completed an extensive range of projects for the Victorian Department of Human Services, including Threat & Risk Assessments, security testing, incident response, standard & policy development, and mobile device security support.

We have also completed a range of security projects for the NSW Ambulance Service, Medicare Australia and the Department of Health and Ageing, and many other key organisations in Australia’s broader health environment.
